A Texas flower shop owner who was charged with storming the US Capitol in early January can travel to Mexico later this month while awaiting the disposition of her case, a federal judge ruled Friday.
Jenny Cudd, who runs Becky’s Flowers in Midland, initially filed a motion in US District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday seeking approval to take a prepaid trip with her employees to Riviera Maya from Feb. 18 through Feb. 21.
In the filing, Cudd’s attorneys argued the trip is work related and she doesn’t have a criminal background.
US District Judge Trevor McFadden gave Cudd the green light Friday saying she’s neither a flight risk nor a danger to others and noted she doesn’t have a criminal past, The Washington Post reported.
Cudd was charged with entering a restricted building and disorderly conduct in the Jan. 6 Capitol siege, but was released on her own recognizance.
The one-time mayoral candidate went on social media claiming she was part of the mob that broke into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office. She later told KWES she didn’t do anything illegal.
