At least one person reportedly died in a fire that ripped through a Jersey City home overnight.

The blaze began on Martin Luther King Drive near Union Street around 11:30 p.m., ABC 7 reported.

A frantic mother approached responding police, yelling that her children were still inside, according to the report.

Police couldn’t make it past the flames, but responding firefighters found two victims on the second floor, the outlet reported.

“We got banging on the door, people were screaming telling us, ‘Help! Get out!’” a resident told the outlet.

“I’m just shocked,” another added. “I’ve sent prayers out, hopefully for the cops that are injured. We thank y’all for trying to help us.”

At least one was pronounced dead on scene, according to the report.

The victims’ ages were not immediately provided.

Three police officers were being treated for smoke inhalation, and residents of the attached homes were offered shelter, according to the report.
