Sterling Skye Mahomes could potentially follow in the footsteps of her athletically gifted parents.
On Monday, Brittany Matthews revealed she and fiancé Patrick Mahomes had received a national letter of intent from Texas Tech on behalf of their newborn daughter Sterling, who arrived last month.
“@Patrickmahomes she’s ready,” Matthews posted to Instagram, along with the letter for Sterling to play soccer at her dad’s alma mater.
Matthews, who played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler, also added a photo of a personalized baby blanket and a Mahomes-inspired onesie.
Mahomes played three seasons under center at Texas Tech before declaring for the 2017 NFL Draft. He was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory in 2020, the same year he signed the richest contract in sports history, a 10-year, $503 million extension with Kansas City. In September of that year, he and Matthews, both 25, also announced their engagement.
Earlier this month, Matthews revealed she and Mahomes had set a 2022 wedding date.
