Paul Pierce isn’t the only one laughing after the Celtics alum-turned-ESPN analyst was fired by the network after a racy video incident last week.
During Tuesday’s NBA postgame show on TNT, Shaquille O’Neal couldn’t contain his laugher the moment he mentioned Pierce’s name. At the time, the Lakers legend was in the midst of a more serious discussion about how game plans were executed during the Celtics era when they had Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo.
While trying to make his point, O’Neal stopped mid-sentence to repeat Pierce’s name while chuckling. Meanwhile, his co-hosts — Adam Lefkoe, Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade — awkwardly looked in different directions while attempting to hide their laughter.
Pierce faced scrutiny over the weekend after he shared a racy Instagram Live video on Friday, which included partially nude women at an undisclosed party in LA. The footage also showed Pierce surrounded by alcohol, and a separate photo showed Pierce smoking what appeared to be marijuana. A source confirmed to The Post’s Andrew Marchand Monday that the network had parted ways with Pierce.
Despite being fired by ESPN, Pierce — who didn’t earn the nickname “The Truth” for nothing — took to Instagram to promise that “bigger and better things” are coming. He shared a short clip reassuring fans that he’s “good” and will be just fine after the incident.
Then, on Tuesday, Pierce continued his posting streak by sharing a trio of videos on his Instagram story that showed him smoking with P. Diddy’s “Bad Boy For Life” playing over them.
It’s unclear what Pierce’s next move will be, but it seems likely he’ll share the news on Instagram.
