A woman pushing her 1-year-old niece in a stroller was struck by a flatbed truck and killed Thursday morning while crossing a Brooklyn street.
The 62-year-old woman was crossing at Myrtle and Bedford avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 11:30 a.m. when a work truck plowed into her, according to police. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The child was not hit by the truck but received minor injuries when her stroller was knocked over. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation, cops said.
The driver was stopped at a light and was seated too high up to see the woman crossing in front of him, police sources said. Police said it wasn’t clear who had the green light.
The vehicle remained on the scene and there were no immediate charges. A police spokeswoman said she was not sure what the relationship was between the woman and child.
