It really is the naked city.
There have been numerous recent sightings of a man — clad only in black socks, shoes and inexplicably carrying a gym bag — sauntering around the streets of the Upper East Side and Midtown.
The unmasked streaker was seen in early September strutting his stuff near Central Park on Fifth Avenue in broad daylight, prompting socialite Dori Cooperman to post a picture of his derrière on Instagram, with the comment, “Only in New York!”
Then this past week, the Desnudo Don put outdoor diners, including Park Avenue socialite Eleanora Kennedy, briefly off their appetizers when he wandered past swanky eaterie Amaranth on 62nd Street, swinging in the wind.
It has certainly been a vintage season for streakers in the Big Apple
The “Today” show got its own news flash and cut to commercials after a streaker sprinted past the studio on Monday morning while hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin were live on air.
The naked runner was seen jogging right outside the NBC show’s Studio 1A window that looks out onto the streets of Midtown Manhattan.
“Oh, there was a naked runner,” Melvin said, before attempting to segue into a bit about Kotb’s new podcast. “What is happening? Oh, my gosh, Hoda,” a flustered Guthrie added.
The streaker made off in a flash, and fortunately for NBC, his lower half was mostly concealed by crowd-control barricades.
“At least it’s not Matt Lauer,” one social media wag quipped on Twitter.
