Facebook and Instagram were hit with a second wave of outages on Friday afternoon — just days after all the services went down for hours on Monday.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Facebook products,” a Facebook spokesperson said in an email to The Post. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The spokesperson did not give details on the cause or size of the outage, but more than 32,000 American Instagram users had reported being unable to use the app between about 2:30 and 3 p.m. on Friday, according to DownDetector.
About 2,300 US Facebook users also reported issues over the same period of time. WhatsApp appeared to be relatively unaffected, with just 109 reports.
Users in Europe were also reporting outages.
Friday’s reported outage came after Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all went down globally for more than six hours on Monday, wiping more than $50 million off the market capitalization of Facebook, which owns all three services.
Facebook said Monday’s outage was an “error of our own making.”
The Monday outage was triggered when Facebook engineers were trying to conduct “a routine maintenance” job, Santosh Janardhan, Facebook’s vice president of infrastructure, wrote in a blog post.
