Hillary Clinton returned Saturday to the California hospital where former President Bill Clinton is recovering — and expected to be released soon — after battling a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream.
The former secretary of state arrived at University of California Irvine Medical Center at around 8 a.m. with the couple’s daughter, Chelsea, and her husband Marc Mezvinsky, accompanied by secret service agents.
Clinton, 75, was hit with the urinary-tract infection that spread to his bloodstream, according to his doctors, who said he’s been hospitalized since Tuesday.
But he never went into septic shock and did not receive intensive care unit treatment — even though he was staying in the ICU unit, which was mostly for privacy, they noted.
Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña said Friday that Clinton would remain hospitalized overnight to receive further intravenous antibiotics.
“All health indicators are trending in the right direction, including his white blood count, which has decreased significantly,” Ureña said.
“President Clinton continues to be in excellent spirits, and is deeply grateful for the outstanding care he is receiving and the well wishes that people have sent from across America and around the world,” the spokesman added.
President Joe Biden said the ex-commander-in-chief was “doing fine” and would be released from the hospital soon.
“He’s not in any serious condition,” the president said Friday at a University of Connecticut event. “He is getting out shortly, as I understand it. Whether that’s tomorrow or the next day, I don’t know.
Clinton has reportedly been passing the time reading books and watching TV coverage about his hospitalization.
