Did the Lion Queen return?
A crazed woman in a blond wig was captured on video in the lion enclosure at the Bronx Zoo — telling the king of the jungle that she loves him as she tossed $100 bills toward the big cat.
“I missed him so much!” the woman — also wearing a red dress and leopard-print shawl — is heard saying while holding a bouquet of roses in video published by WNBC.
A zoo spokesperson told the news outlet that the cat lover jumped a barrier at the lion exhibit but was still on the other side of a protective moat separating the enclosure from the public during the incident about 4 p.m. Thursday.
“The woman did not enter the exhibit and was never in the same space as the lions which are separated from zoo visitors by a wide moat,” the rep said in a statement.
“The incident lasted only a couple of minutes and the woman was gone when staff arrived on scene. The zoo intends to prosecute the woman for criminal trespass if she is identified,” the statement added.
A woman whose husband recorded the surreal scene said the too-close-for-comfort visitor exclaimed, “King, I love you!”
The spectacle was similar to an incident from September 2019 in which a woman named Myah Autry, the so-called “Lion Queen,” went to the same spot and taunted one of the cats, according to WNBC.
The woman who witnessed the latest incident said based on Autry’s Instagram page, it appeared to be the same feline fanatic from Brooklyn.
Autry, who claimed she was a “reincarnated” lion, was arrested in November 2019 near the Barclays Center and slapped with a criminal trespass charge for the stunt.
Police were able to identify Autry at the time after her wild zoo stunt when she posted photos and videos of herself inside the animal enclosures.
“I fear nobody. No animal, no human, no one. So no, I wasn’t fearing of the lion because the lion loved me,” she said after the 2019 incident, according to the station. “That’s why he came to me and I let the lion know: Lion, I love you.”
Belmont resident Raul Rivera told WNBC: “I can’t believe she did it again, if it even is her. I don’t know what’s going through people’s minds.”
