Florida police are searching for answers after the mysterious killing of a 14-year-old boy who was found dead after going for a bike ride last month.
The body Ryan Rogers was discovered on Nov. 16 on Central Boulevard near the Interstate 95 overpass in Palm Beach Gardens — a day after he was reported missing when he left his family’s home to ride his bike and never returned, according to police and Fox News.
Four days later, Palm Beach Gardens police announced the teen’s death was a homicide.
Police did not reveal his cause of death but ruled out the possibility that he was fatally struck by a car.
In another press release from Nov. 24, police called Rogers’ death a “deliberate act” and urged witnesses to come forward.
On Monday, the department said “the investigation is progressing forward,” but renewed their call for help from anybody who may know what transpired the night Rogers was killed.
In a GoFundMe page set up for Rogers’ family, his mother remembered him as an easygoing well-mannered teen.
“The loss of Ryan is unimaginable and I never thought I would ever not see him play soccer again, or spend vacation with him or see him walk through the door or send him off to school every morning,” Cynthia Rogers wrote.
“His smile, his laugh and his heart is what I remember the most. I was blessed to have him as my son. He was pretty easy as far teenagers go. Just a good kid,” she said.
