Prince Andrew could face a civil trial for sexual assault in the U.S., after a New York judge on Wednesday dismissed the prince’s bid to have the case thrown out.
Victoria Giuffre has accused the British prince of sexual assault when she was 17.
The prince’s lawyers said the case should be dismissed, citing a settlement Giuffre signed in 2009 with convicted sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
Giuffre has said she was the victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Epstein, a billionaire financier who was found dead by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019.
In 2019, Prince Andrew said during a BBC interview that he had no recollection of having met Giuffre. He has consistently denied the allegations of sexual assault.
