Let’s get emotional! The wolf moon will sing within the night of Jan. 17, 2022. Emotions will be heated, bringing intense feelings, sudden revelations and relationship turmoil.

Read how your zodiac sign will be affected here. For more information on the wolf moon, check out the information after the horoscopes.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

An emotional shift around a domestic affair could be at hand for you, Aries. Some of you may have sudden news that causes you to have to pivot the way you’ve been handling a family, home or real estate matter. You may be required to step in to aid a parent or one of your kindred, but the situation may end up being quite frustrating and you must power through it. Luckily, if you have the sudden urge to move or redecorate, you may be able to transform the sense of joy you experience in your living space.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

A big turning point around a communication or mental project is at hand, Taurus. You may suddenly be focusing on a writing, speaking, advertising or social media initiative and trying to get all the pieces tied down. On one hand, you could make a lot of progress with it — but you may be quite emotional about how it’s all coming together. An important contract could also pop up near this time and you may feel a bit forced to sign it. If you can delay, do so — but it seems like it’ll be thrust upon you, making you feel like you’re walking on eggshells.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

A big financial matter is arriving for you to handle, Gemini, and it may feel like a bigger expense than you’d prefer to handle. Instead, you may now be looking at your budget and finances and realizing you need to make some serious adjustments. Luckily, this same full moon could also bring news of a new job, raise or lucrative client, too, so be on the hunt.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

A major turning point arrives for you now, Cancer. This particular lunation could also bring up some power struggles and intense revelations between you and a partner. On one hand, you are clearly asserting your authority and power at this time and may see the culmination of or a turning point around a heartfelt project or dream. If you need aid at this time, think outside of the box and reach out to others who may be able to step in and provide what you need.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Lie low and recharge, Leo. This full moon will have you feeling quite anxious and cause you to dig deep to decide what you need to release in order to be a happier and brighter version of yourself. Your dreams could be especially intense and a secret may now emerge that you — or another — desperately tried to keep hidden. This may cause emotions to be stirred and past situations to be addressed once again. The best way to handle this energy is to chill out, clear your plans and focus on a mini staycation.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

Festive events and plans could fill your social calendar near this time, Virgo. However, there could be some push-pull energy between you, a friend and someone you’re dating. Another way this could manifest is around a situation with children. The best thing to do is to avert the dramatic vibes, breathe through it and remind everyone that it’s better to bring love into the world and not hate.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

A big shift around your career is sure to pop up now. However, prepare to also be dealing with some tension around home and family situations too as you reach for new professional heights. Luckily, a promotion, new job or recognition could pop up now, depending on how hard you’ve been working in recent months, too. If for some reason something rocky appears regarding an authority figure, explain your side of the story.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21).

Soaring in vast new directions will be on the top of your mind, Scorpio. However, you could be feeling tension crop up that is limiting the plans for success or travel that you’d previously hoped for. Significant legal or contractual situations could appear, especially regarding media, academic or international business.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Intimacy, sharing and sexual energy will be on the top of your mind near this full moon, Sagittarius. On one hand, you could be feeling especially close with your partner and cuddling up. However, if there’s distance or a disconnect, you could rehash the details or even decide it’s time to file for divorce and pursue a settlement. In other news, you may instead be focusing upon a big money matter, such as your assets, investments, employment benefits or even an inheritance.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Where do you stand in your significant partnerships, Capricorn? Are you on the same page or just growing apart? You could be feeling especially intense, as it could be a make-or-break time for your relationships. If you’re happy, you could have a transformative revelation to grow closer, especially around moving in, discussing engagement or even readying to tie the knot. In this regard, you’d transform for the better. However, if you and your significant other are just feeling the friction, you’re sure to have a dramatic episode that sends you apart like leaves cast into the wind.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

The full moon will be cranking up your productivity, Aquarius. You could be quite busy putting the finishing touches on an employment or work-related project near this time. If you’re looking for a new job or to take on more responsibility, you may do so now. However, you may instead be assessing your work-life balance and also taking a deep look at your health, diet or fitness. Lastly, if you have a pet, they may have a bit of a rocky time near this full moon. Some Aquarians may decide to adopt near this time, too.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Prepare to feel a surge of passion near this time, Pisces. You’re ready to let loose and have a bit of fun, so get your dancing shoes on! However, beware that this lunation could create some power struggles or some tension between you, your romantic partner and a friend. Your acquaintance may not be seeing eye-to-eye with you on your relationship or have ulterior motives of their own. Luckily, if you open your heart, you could push past the drama and focus more on your true desires. Single Pisceans could find someone new through their network near this time, too.

What else should I know about the wolf moon?

Full moons occur when our beloved brilliant moon stands at her brightest light. These periods tend to represent turning points, culminations, endings or awakenings. They are especially emotional and start to creep up on us a few days prior and echo for the week that follows them. Full moons are connected to new moons, and this particular one will echo the themes, situations and discussions that began near July 9, 2021. Reflect back on that period and see how much progress you’ve made since then.

The wolf moon was originally named for the howls in the night that could often be heard near this time. The wolf moon this year is also a full moon in Cancer. This water sign’s energy will crackle through the air. Often, this encourages us to dig deep into our emotions and become reflective on our heritage, the past and how stable our domestic life is. Situations around family and real estate often emerge near this time, too. As Cancer is a very moody and sensitive zodiac sign, our feelings will be of primary concern now.

This full moon has a unique planetary configuration that will trigger powerful, transformative and intense experiences. The sun will be united with Pluto, bringing us the desire to assert our dominance and be obeyed. However, with the moon opposed to Pluto, relationship drama and power struggles are also guaranteed. It would be wise to beware of manipulative, destructive, violent, obsessive or addictive situations. Wild mood swings are also quite likely. As a saving grace, though, the full moon will be sweetly angled to Neptune, enhancing our creative, romantic and spiritual energy. Connecting with friends, healers and people who have a compassionate nature can help us to divert some of the more volatile energy swirling at this time. Be sympathetic and kind to others and surround yourself with those who vibrate brightly rather than those who encourage darker energy.

What other names are there for the wolf moon?

The full moon of January has many names that have trickled down from Native American culture and proliferated through the Farmer’s Almanac. Other names for this lunation are also the center moon (Assiniboine), cold moon (Cree), frost exploding moon (Cree), freeze up moon (Algonquin), severe moon (Dakota), hard moon (Dakota), Canada goose moon (Tlingit), great moon (Cree), greetings moon (Western Abenaki) and spirit moon (Ojibwe).

When is the wolf moon this year?

The wolf moon reaches fullness on Jan. 17, 2022, at 27 degrees of Cancer. View it at 6:48 p.m. (Eastern time).
